| Diederik Visser (1963) studied Geology
at the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. In 1993 he received his PhD degree
in Utrecht with a thesis on cordierite-orthoamphibole rocks and the
Metamorphic evolution of the Bamble Sector, a piece of deep continental
Proterozoic crust in south Norway.
After several years of employment for the Government, Diederik returned to geology and his love for the academic geological collections as part-time curator of the geological collections at The University Museum in Utrecht and as Projectmanager of a large National project on the abandoned academic geological collections. In 2003 Diederik started his own business Diederik Visser Minerals & Petrological Services combining his interest in rare Minerals, his background in Petrology and his peculair habit of collecting mining related objects. Diederik lives together with his cats "Flippie" and "Muis (=Mouse, what a name for a cat)" in the city of Deventer. |
