Company
which exploited Iron ore at Kaloum since 1949 in this former French Colony.
Mining proved to be difficult because of the mediocre quality of the ore
and the political situation at the end of the 1950's. The company exported
the majority of the ore to the U.K. and Poland. In 1958 mining operations
were ceased.
