In 1912 prospection and mining studies started in the Haut-Atlas in Morocco.This let to the discovery of a very large Manganese ore deposit at Bou-Arfa close to the border with Algeria. Exploitation of the ore began in 1922. I found that the company was active exploiting the mines from 1929-1959 but possibly also earlier.
